BMF proclaims initiative to develop and incubate new merchandise enabled by projection micro-stereolithography

Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) has introduced at this time the opening of a brand new analysis and growth centre in San Diego, California.

The BMF Analysis Institute is being shaped particularly to develop and incubate end-product concepts which are enabled by BMF’s micro-3D printing platform.

BMF’s Projection Micro Stereolithography was developed to fulfil wants within the additive manufacturing market that it says weren’t sufficiently addressed by incumbent applied sciences. These are components which are sometimes on the centimetre scale, with tolerance necessities typically within the decrease tens of micron vary.

“After being out there for a couple of years, we now see that there are a number of end-products which are uniquely enabled by our platform,” stated John Kawola, CEO of Boston Micro Fabrication. “We’re at the moment working with researchers, product designers and different collaboration companions on new product concepts.”

“We not too long ago raised further capital to proceed the event of our platform. However these funds can even be used for end-product growth and commercialisation,” Kawola added. “We anticipate these two legs might be complimentary to one another with the broader purpose of unleashing the ability of additive manufacturing in micro-manufacturing.”

The efforts might be led by Dr. Chunguang Xia, CTO and Co-founder of BMF. The brand new centre will interact in analysis and engineering with cooperation with different BMF’s engineering teams and analysis centres in Shenzen, Chongqing, Tokyo and Boston.

BMF first started transport programs in 2018, and in accordance with the corporate, over 300 of its micro 3D printing merchandise have since been adopted worldwide. The programs are used for prototyping, growth, analysis and manufacturing qualification. BMF says that the segments which have most embraced the platform are in fields comparable to electronics, optics/photonics, medical units, microfluidics and life sciences.

Kawola spoke to TCT at this years RAPID + TCT occasion in Detroit, talking concerning the potential of the corporate’s know-how.
