What can I expect after my first laser treatment?

Week 1: 1st Treatment The heat from the laser either weakens or completely destroys the hair follicle. Immediately after, the skin may be red and swollen – clients can experience a ‘sun-burn sensation’ this is normal and will subside after a few hours.

What are the side effects of laser treatment on face?

Redness, swelling, itching and pain. Treated skin may swell, itch or have a burning sensation. Acne. Applying thick creams and bandages to your face after treatment can worsen acne or cause you to temporarily develop tiny white bumps (milia) on treated skin. Infection. Changes in skin color. Scarring.

Does hair grow thicker after laser?

In rare instances, laser hair removal may cause thicker, darker hair to grow or regrow in an adjacent area to the one being treated. This condition is known as paradoxical hypertrichosis. Paradoxical hypertrichosis can occur anywhere on the face or body.

What do I need to know before my first laser session?

DO NOT wax, tweeze or sugar the area to be treated. DO NOT use cream depilatories on the area to be treated. DO NOT tan before your laser hair removal appointment. DO NOT tan after your laser hair removal appointment. DO NOT use skin care products on the area to be treated.

Does laser hair have side effects?

Rarely, laser hair removal can cause blistering, crusting, scarring or other changes in skin texture. Other rare side effects include graying of treated hair or excessive hair growth around treated areas, particularly on darker skin.

How soon after laser can I shower?

How long after laser hair removal can I shower? Ideally 24 hours, but if you must shower wait at least 6-8 hours after your session. Use tepid water and avoid using any harsh products, scrubs, exfoliating mitts, loofahs or sponges on your treatment area.

Do scars come back after laser?

Scarring will not reappear after laser scar treatment, though other factors – like age, sun exposure, and lifestyle – can impact the overall appearance of the skin.

Does laser remove 100% hair?

Although the procedure is often touted as a form of “permanent” hair removal, laser treatment only reduces the number of unwanted hairs in a given area. It doesn’t get rid of unwanted hairs completely.

Can you wear deodorant day after laser?

After your laser hair removal treatment, we recommend that you avoid wearing deodorant or applying other products for 24 hours, except for soothing products such as Balense Recovery Cream.

Does laser hurt for the first time?

The more sensitive the skin is to begin with, the more painful it’ll likely be. To minimize pain, your provider may rub a numbing cream into your skin prior to the procedure. Depending on the body part and your pain tolerance, you may not need any numbing cream at all.

Can I shave in between laser treatments?

Yes, you can shave in between each session of laser hair removal. During your course of treatment you can shave any hairs that may regrow. After your first laser hair removal session you will notice that you won’t need to shave as much as before. After 2-3 sessions you may only need to shave once in a 4-6 week period.
