Treatment For Lice FAQ in Concord, NC

Can you get rid of lice in one day?

No. The two treatments 9 days apart are designed to eliminate all live lice, and any lice that may hatch from eggs that were laid after the first treatment. Many nits are more than ¼ inch from the scalp.

What product kills lice eggs?

Nix Ultra® kills lice and, unlike some lice treatments, kills eggs too, by suffocation. Nix Ultra® is specially designed to eliminate hard-to-kill Super Lice, which have developed resistance to many traditional lice treatments.

Can you reuse a lice comb?

A metal nit comb can be reused if washed and boiled. Remember the key to successful lice treatment is complete removal of ALL nits. to help in nit removal includes Clear, Step 1 and mayonnaise. Soak combs and brushes for one hour in a pediculicide lice shampoo or five to ten minutes in hot water (130 degrees).

Is it possible to only have 1 lice?

Children can have a few nits without actually having a case of head lice. Usually children have no more than 10 to 20 live lice. Good lighting is important when you are checking. Head lice move fast and are hard to see.

What are lice attracted to?

Lice are attracted to the blood they get through your scalp – short, long, clean or dirty. Doesn’t matter! You have to clean every crevice of your house after a lice infestation.

How do I make sure lice don’t come back?

Avoid head-to-head (hair-to-hair) contact during play and other activities at home, school, and elsewhere (sports activities, playground, slumber parties, camp). Do not share clothing such as hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms, hair ribbons, or barrettes. Do not share combs, brushes, or towels.

Do head lice crawl on your face?

They need human blood to live. Head lice usually stay close to the scalp and behind the ears. You might also spot them on the eyebrows and eyelashes.

What do nits look like on paper towel?

If you see sesame-seed-shaped objects, those are the nits and lice, which can be brown or grey and stand out against the white paper towel. “The nits may look like they have tails that stick out the back,” says Faulkner.

Do lice like cold water?

CAN COLD WATER KILL LICE? Cold water does not kill head lice. If dumped on the head, the lice will only cozy up closer to the scalp, hanging on tightly with its legs. If a louse somehow makes it into cold water, it may slow down some, but will die as a result of being removed from its home.

Why do adults not get lice?

Adults are not immune to head lice. In fact, if you have any close contact with children or even parents of children you can be at risk of catching them if they have them. Lice transfer primarily through head to head contact, so you would have to get close to the other person.
